March Miles: Shake Off Winter & Chase Something Bigger

March is that in-between month.

Not quite winter.
Not quite spring.
But absolutely the perfect time to reset.

If January was about goals and February was about consistency…
March is about momentum.

This is where runners separate “I’ll try” from “I will.”

Why March Matters for Runners

March is powerful because:

  • The weather starts cooperating (mostly 😅)

  • Race season is around the corner

  • Motivation begins to return

  • The days are longer

  • And your body is ready to build

You’ve already laid the foundation. Now it’s time to stack miles with purpose.


What Should You Focus on This Month?

1️⃣ Build Consistency, Not Perfection

Missed a few runs this winter? Good. You’re human.
March is about rhythm — 3–4 solid runs a week beats one epic run followed by burnout.

2️⃣ Add Strength or Speed

Even one day a week of hill repeats or tempo work can level you up quickly.
Small stress = big adaptation.

3️⃣ Set a Mini Goal

Not a year-long goal. A March goal.

  • 50 miles?

  • 100 miles?

  • 12 straight run days?

  • 1 mile PR?

  • Longest long run of the year?

Declare it. Post it in the group. Own it.


Shake Off the Winter Mindset

Winter makes us cautious.
March makes us bold.

This is your month to:

  • Push pace just a little

  • Add distance just a little

  • Show up when you don’t feel like it

  • Build mental toughness before summer heat hits

Every mile in March compounds.
